DESCRIPTION:I discuss the all-order resummation of soft gluon contributions
  to transverse momentum and rapidity distributions of colorless final-stat
 e particles (such as Higgs) in perturbative QCD. I present the underlying 
 physics\, based on renormalization group arguments combined with an unders
 tanding of the relevant kinematics\, and I spell out some necessary assump
 tions. I elucidate the relation between the Drell-Yan rapidity distributio
 n and semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering\, and the relation between 
 the associate resummation procedures. The emphasis will be on the analysis
  of the main relevant ideas and techniques\, rather than on phenomenologic
 al aspects.\n
