DESCRIPTION:The Hubbard model is one of the iconic models of strongly corre
lated electron systems. Although it greatly simplifies the physics of real
-world materials\, it is believed to capture the essence of strong correla
tion phenomena\, such as d-wave superconductivity and the pseudogap. Even
the most advanced numerical methods cannot yet fully resolve its phase dia
gram\, which reflects a delicate competition between distinct ordered phas
es. This balance can be tipped by small additional terms beyond the standa
rd Hubbard description.\n\nIn this talk\, I will report on our recent prog
ress in realizing tunable optical lattice systems for extended Hubbard mod
els that include such terms. Using ultracold lithium\, we realize a quantu
m gas microscope that offers fully spin- and charge-resolved readout\, tun
able lattice geometries\, and entropy redistribution. We observe that this
system develops long-range antiferromagnetic correlations at half filling
and low temperature\, which disappear upon doping as signs of spin-stripe
order emerge. By adding a tunable diagonal tunnel coupling to the square
lattice\, we break particle-hole symmetry and observe doping-dependent mag
netism\, polaron correlations\, and dopant-pair correlations. At the entro
py densities we explore\, these signatures are precursors of stripe format
 ion and superconductivity.\n
