  physics and underpins emerging quantum technologies. Yet its role in quan
 tum materials - where many interacting quantum degrees of freedom give ris
 e to novel states of matter - has remained elusive. I will discuss recent 
 advances in witnessing entanglement in quantum materials\, focusing on the
  enigmatic strange metal state as a particularly promising example.
