DESCRIPTION:We recently demonstrated that NV centers in diamond can be used
  to measure\nmagnetic field correlators\, which we deploy to understand su
 perconductivity\nand magnetism. Separately\, building useful superconducti
 ng quantum pro-\ncessors requires significant im-\nprovements in performan
 ce. I will\ndescribe methods for achieving\nrational\, directed improvemen
 t\nof qubits\, which we have used to\nrealize transmons with coheren-\nce 
 times and lifetimes exceeding\n4 ms.
